Foundation expects to award $250,000 to fund community projects
Due dates for the 2017 Greene County Community Foundation grant applications have been announced by Linda Hedges, co-chair of the Foundation’s grant-making committee. “Grow Greene County will be providing about $250,000 from their proceeds from The Wild Rose Casino this year to the Foundation. This will be by far the largest amount of money that the Foundation has ever awarded. We encourage organizations around the county to submit a grant application this year. Over the last 11 years we have awarded grants totaling $1,015,000 to non-profit organizations,” Hedges said.
Grant application forms are now available online at the Foundation’s new dedicated website at www.forgreenecounty.org They will also be available at the Investment Center office at Home State Bank. Completed applications will be due at the Investment Center office by 4 pm Thursday, Feb. 9.
The Foundation will accept grant applications of up to $35,000. The Foundation will have a grant writing workshop Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 7 pm at the Greene County Extension office for those who have questions about the application process. Board members of the Foundation will score the applications on Feb. 18 and grants will be awarded and available on March 20.
